Elective Students QE Health receives a limited number of students annually from overseas and New Zealand who choose to spend their elective time here. We are a small (75 bed) stand-alone unit specialising in rheumatology, musculoskeletal rehabilitation and cold orthopaedic surgery for people with arthritis. Our service is very much based on multidisciplinary rehabilitation. We are New Zealand's leading rheumatology unit and have three top grade rheumatologists. Only bona fide students in their final or penultimate year of training in recognized medical schools are eligible to apply. As this is an educational exercise no remuneration is offered. To formalize any application we do require a letter of recommendation from one of your deans, recent lecturers or someone with similar authority. While accommodation is not provided for within the hospital we do provide a few options. Electives are not available between the months of December and January as this is our main vacation period. A small administration fee of NZ $100.00 is payable on arrival as an elective student. Enquiries should be addressed to:
