 Association Project

2007 - 2008

The Committee is delighted to have purchased from the Rotorua Museum of Art and History this moving, informative and historic exhibition which features the Services Convalescent Hospital, 1942-48.

A Place of Kindness” was exhibited at the Rotorua Museum during July-August 2007, and attracted attention and comments of appreciation from many viewers.

It seemed appropriate that the founding history of Queen Elizabeth Hospital, portraying the healing and rehabilitation philosophy of care established by Dr Stanley Wallis, Medical Superintendent, should not languish in the museum’s basement, but be “re-housed” at QE Health for the enjoyment and appreciation of patients, staff and visitors.

We hope “A Place of Kindness” brings pleasure, insight and inspiration to all viewers, and ensures that the “spirit” and healing service of the hospital remains vibrant and enduring in the 21st century.

Margaret Parker ,
President

Thanks to Alison Masters, QEH Community Trust Archivist, for initiating the concept.

"Art in the Hospital" Project

THE PATIENTS' ASSOCIATION

QE Health Patients' Association is a voluntary organisation with an elected committee of ex patients and staff.

The Committee meets monthly and works on a voluntary basis to:

  • Provide 'extra' items for the comfort and welfare of patients
  • Improve selected hospital facilities and aspects of the environment for the benefit of patients and staff
  • Maintain, repair or replace provided items and facilities
  • To represent the interests of patients to the QEH Community Trust and Board of Directors.

Donations from patients and profit from the shop finance this work. If you would like to support our work, a donation may be left with the Patients' Association Visitor, or placed in the box provided at the shop.

Donations may be directed to a particular fund or project. A receipt acknowledging your gift is forwarded if your name and address is put on the envelope. All donations of $5 or more are deductible for income tax purposes. (NB Keep your receipt).

Annual General Meeting

The AGM of the QE Health Patients' Association is held in March. All patients are invited to attend.

A representative from the Patients' Association is appointed to the QE Health Community Trust. An important aspect of the Trust's work is to ensure that the hospital's services remain accessible for all people.

The Patients' Association welcomes your support and suggestions.
