Nordic Walking - the latest fitness trend from
Europe:
Nordic Walking is a
fantastic total body workout that uses up to 90% of your skeletal
muscles. Using Nordic Walking
techniques you can burn 40% more calories than with regular walking,
while easing the load on your knees, hips and back. Nordic
Walking is generally regarded as one of the fastest growing
recreational fitness activities in the world. Originating in
Finland as an off-season training method for competitive cross
country skiers, this has evolved into a fun and sociable outdoor
activity, suitable for all age groups and fitness levels. Nordic
Walking uses specifically designed poles to actively engage the
upper body while you walk. It sounds easy, but learning the
correct technique is essential. Introduction to Nordic Walking
will include an overview about the history, basic diagonal stride
technique and Nordic Walking stretches. During your guided
excursion you will be taught correction exercises, the techniques
for walking uphill/downhill and discover the many health and fitness
benefits of Nordic Walking.
Individualised lessons, with
one-on-one instruction, are available for those who want to get
the most out of their Nordic Walking experience. Bookings
are essential. Group bookings are available upon request.
