A Healing Experience...

Unwind in a thermal mineral pool, immerse your body in a warm nourishing liquid mud bath, or relax with a soothing massage under gently pressurised sprays of thermal mineral water...... We have opened the Spa at QE to the general public, so anyone seeking a relaxing, healing experience can enjoy the therapeutic benefits that our rheumatology patients have appreciated for decades.  Choose from an exciting range of therapies ...

Aix Massage: The Aix massage (pronounced "aches" ironically enough) is very popular in modern times, although the concept was actually introduced to Rotorua from France in the early 1900's.  Named after the French spa town Aix-les-Bains, today the treatment embraces the essence of Rotorua, combining massage with jets of  thermal water from the same waters as the Rachel Spring.  A truly relaxing experience!  Half hour or one hour appointments available.

Relaxation Massage
A firm or light massage, performed with flowing strokes and use of oils. Relax; relieve that stress from throughout the whole body.
Half hour or one hour appointments available.
Therapeutic Massage
The therapeutic massage assists to mobilise tissues and muscles of the body using oils.  Specific tension areas are treated with a range of massage approaches including deep tissue. Ideal after strenuous activity!
Half hour or one hour appointments available.
Lithos Therapy TM
Heated and chilled rocks are used as therapeutic instruments to enhance and prolong the benefits of massage.  The rocks are strategically placed on your body to prepare the muscles and tissues for treatment.  This therapy is healing, cleansing, preventative and  beneficial.
One hour appointment only.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage - Available on request
Assists the flow of lymph through the body, helps with the immune and protective function, eases pressure, oedema and swelling, assisting to clear any blockages.
One hour appointment only. For complete Lymphatic Drainage 1.5 hour is recommended
Double Massage Rooms
Sometimes people are hesitant to try a new therapy such as massage. The double room means that a friend or family member can come along to benefit from the massage and provide moral support.
Mud Bath
Soak in a soothing bath containing liquid thermal mud mixed with warm water from the Rachel Spring.  The heat retention of minerals transmits internal warmth to completely unwind while nourishing the skin. Sleep well.
Mud Packs
Thermal mud wrapped in towels is applied to areas of the body to decrease tension and pain. Mud is not applied directly to the skin and only two packs are applied at one time.

Mud Wrap
A glorious mineral-rich Rotorua mud wrap for legs, arms and back.  One hour appointment.

Rachel Bath
Enjoy a relaxing and therapeutic soak in the Rachel Pool.  Filled with thermal waters like those from the Rachel Spring, the mineral pool has a comfortable temperature of  37°C - 40°C and is suitable for individual or group bathing.
Pyretic (Steam) Bath
While lying on an enclosed bed thermally heated steam wafts around you. Ideal for releasing tender muscles and calming nerves.

Spa Pod
The Spa Oceana capsule offers steam, sauna and shower in a single private capsule and can enhance the experience with colour therapy (chromotherapy) and aromatherapy. Choose from a variety of programmes including body detoxification, skin rejeuvenation, weight loss, stress release, relaxation, or revival.
