Welcome to QE Health. You have found a world leading residential rehabilitation facility with a range of healthcare facilities open to the general public.
Our core role is in providing rehabilitation services to patients with severe arthritis and other chronic disorders.We are a national referral centre for patients who are unable to manage their condition despite the best efforts of regional services.
Rotorua is a natural place for QE Health. The geothermal spas at Rotorua have been providing healing for over a century. QE Health is the direct successor to the original health spa, the Rotorua Bathhouse.
The benefits of healing from mineralised water is known as balneotherapy. Evidence shows that better outcomes in musculoskeletal conditions are experienced from balneotherapy than from non-mineralised spa treatment (Falagas et al International Journal of Clinical Practice, July 2009).
In addition, we offer local services including physiotherapy, psychological counselling, occupational therapy, and orthotics services.
Balneotherapy
Balneotherapy is the use of mineral water in healing and is as old as time.
The geothermal water found in Rotorua is abundant in minerals and Spa at QE incorporates this water into the health treatments offered to its clients.
Research has shown that minerals such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, silica and sulphate found in thermal water can help alleviate aches and pains, promote healthy skin and assist in the elimination of toxins from the body. The heat from the water gives you a relaxing effect, improves circulation and increases metabolism.
Spa at QE uses alkaline thermal hot water and combines the benefits of this in a soaking pool, Aix massage, mud bath and mud pack treatments.
