ANA TAHANA (BHSc- Physiotherapy)Clinical Manager Physiotherapy and Spa ServicesIt is my role as Clinical Manager to ensure the seamless delivery of Physiotherapy, Fitness and Spa services across our wide range of contracts and clientele. These include Ministry of Health funded community based rehabilitation, ACC clients, in-patient and day-patient programmes, outpatients and private clients. It is my responsibility to cultivate clinical excellence and ensure optimal care for all QE Health clients. |
DR JOHN PETRIE MBChB PGCertSpMed FRACPConsultant RheumatologistDr Petrie is a Rheumatologist, vocationally registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a Specialist in Internal Medicine. Trained in Auckland, NZ, he graduated BSc and MBChB from the Auckland University Medical School. During his postgraduate advanced training he spent a year working at Queen Elizabeth Hospital with the late Irwin Isdale, and this experience determined his further career course. On completion of his training he was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, and travelled to England where he worked at Cambridge for two years as the Arthritis and Rheumatism Council (UK) Dorothy Eden Fellow. After a brief role as a locum Consultant Rheumatologist in Peterborough, Dr Petrie returned to the Waikato Hospital in Hamilton, NZ for a brief period as the Physician for the Young Disabled before taking up his desired role as Consultant Rheumatologist at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. For over 20 years he has provided a clinical service in the diagnosis and holistic management of Rheumatological conditions, as well as a similar provision for other disorders impacting on the musculoskeletal system such as chronic pain and neurological disability. He has been involved in management and governance roles with the Hospital as well, with positions as director on the board of QEH Ltd and as a trustee on the QEH Community Trust. He has served as the Secretary for the NZ Rheumatology Association and is accredited as a supervisor for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians Advanced Training Programme. He is also a Clinical Tutor for undergraduate students from the Waikato campus of the Auckland Medical School. In recent years he has studied Sports Medicine as with the Auckland University Postgraduate Diploma programme and graduated with a Postgraduate Certificate in 2010. |
MARY LEAN (R.G.O.N Q.S.M)Senior Rheumatology NurseManages and coordinates the nursing service in the Rheumatology Rehabilitation Unit and the nursing input in the multidisciplinary team. Responsible for the coordination and management of the inpatient treatment service delivery. |
WAYNE HEWLETT MSc, PGDip Health PsychClinical Manager Psychology and CounsellingPsychologists and Counsellors at QE work with a number of inpatients, including ACC clients, as well as outpatient services with community rehabilitation, private clients and ACC psychology assessment and treatment. As the Clinical Manager for Psychology and Counselling Services at QE Health my role is to co-ordinate these various services to provide optimum outcomes for our clients. |
WENDY CHRISTIE (DipOT NZROT)Clinical Manager Occupational TherapyOccupational Therapy provides a range of assessment, education, therapy and rehabilitation programmes for people with injury or disability related conditions. These can comprise of outpatient, community/home based and residential multidisciplinary team programmes. We also provide private ergonomic workplace assessment and education packages for businesses. As Clinical Manager, I lead an enthusiastic team in fostering best clinical practice to attain optimal outcomes for our clients through a holistic and client centered approach as per contract requirements. |
FRANCOIS SMUTS & DAVID GURRORTHOTIC SERVICEThe friendly team in orthotics at QE Health assess, fit and manufacture custom or prefabricated orthoses, to relieve specific musculoskeletal injuries, abnormalities, or to help with rehabilitation eg insoles, knee and ankle supports, footwear, wrist bracing and back supports. We hold both a DHB contract and work with ACC. All our services are available privately and a referral is not always required. We stock and fit various grades of compression stockings for varicose veins, travel, pregnancy, post surgical, lymphoedema and for tired aching legs. We have a combined physiotherapy and orthotic private gait analysis service which aims to identify any lower limb biomechanical abnormalities that may be contributing to pain, discomfort or inefficiency during physical activity. |
